Shoe Advertisement

For Photography class we had to create a shoe advertisement to be run in a magazine. The ad was a one page spread.

This is my final edit of the shoe advertisement. I wanted to keep it very simple and clean, similar to those done by the creator of the shoe that I photographed.Image

MOrlock Adventures, a set on Flickr.

On a VERY cold day in the city of Toronto, Jaleel, Jarret and I ventured out downtown for an adventure we were somewhat prepared for. We started the day in our homes, and met up downtown at Dundas Square. From there we headed off to capture photos of the items Andrew had listed for us. The list is as follows:

– Photo of yourself when they wake up in the morning of your adventure
– Group photo of all members in your group on the subway
– 2 photos of advertisements inside the subway car
– 2 photos of warning signs on the subway platform
– Get off at St. Andrews
– Photo of two group members getting a transfer
– Photo of the art on the sidewalk at King street and Emily
-Photo of all members at a street car shelter ( with advertisement in background)
-photo of Java’s Daily Specials street board ( west of Spadina on Queen south side )
– Photo of the Portland and Queen street signs
– Photo of the storefront of NewYork Subway ( try it out if you want no subs allowed )
– photo of the Gandhi sign ( hungry the best Roti in Toronto ! )
-10 photos of Graffiti
– Photo of the storefront Silver Snail
– Photo of a flyer from inside the Silver Snail
Photo of the ‘robots’ on the wall at Active surplus
Photo of some product one of your group members paid for from Active Surplus
– Photo of a member buying something from a street vendor on Queen Street ( and Soho )
– Photo of the Black Bull patio ( bonus if everyone is enjoying a beer )
– Photo of a Member walking with a Now or EYE news paper
– Photo of the Black Market signage
-Don’t be a “stranger” store front ( bonus South side of Queen )
– Photo of the much music SUV out of the building
-Store front of UMBRA ( check it out if you want )
– Photo of everyone getting on the Subway at Osgood
– Photo of each member reading the Now or EYE paper on the subway
– Photo of someone’s business card on a subway seat
– Photo of everyone saying bye
– Photo of yourself before you hit the bed that night

I didnt get every single item on the list, but I did split most of the shots with my partners. I was glad to see one of my Fav shops on the list, Friendly Stranger. I was a little shocked Andrew knew about it too. It was a good day, simply because I love Downtown Toronto, I just wish Andrew gave us this assignment during the Spring or Summer 🙂

Nadine : A Self Portrait

For Photography class with Michael Visser, we were asked to take a self-portrait photo. Of course we could simply hold the camera to our face and there you have it; but Michael wanted us to show our hobbies and interests in the photo as well. Now this time we could simply stand in a mirror and take a photo of myself doing my hobbies, photography, but of course no Professor would make an assignment that simple. We had to take our photos into Photoshop, play with them and see what we can do the enhance them. For my self-portrait I combined three photos to show my interests and hobbies, and who I am as a person/photographer. The first photo is one I took of myself outside on a swing. This is to represent my interest for outdoors, and having fun. The second photo is one I took of my ‘work station’: my laptop, my phone, pens, pencils and my sketch book. the last photo I integrated into my self-portrait is one I took of the clouds. This represents my love for landscape, nature, and the sky itself. I think of myself as a  hard-working, free-spirited person. My head is constantly in the clouds filled with ideas, visions, and day dreams that I try to express through my art work.
